Big Machine Music City Grand Prix Brings The Party And Record-Setting TV Ratings

The inaugural Big Machine Music City Grand Prix held on the streets of Nashville Aug. 6-8 debuted to massive success and was more than just a weekend of racing. Fans gathered from all parts of the country for three days of motorsports, music, and events that culminated in IndyCar’s return to Tennessee for the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix.

Spectators packed the stands to witness the stars of the sport competing on the new temporary street circuit that featured the cars whipping 190mph across Korean Veterans Bridge and the Cumberland River, a first for an IndyCar street course. It all came down to the final lap, where Chip Ganassi Racing’s Marcus Ericsson took the checkered flag in the highly anticipated event.

Those who couldn’t attend in person flocked to their TVs, helping make the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix the most-watched IndyCar race on cable in NBC Sports history. It is also believed to be the most-watched IndyCar race on a cable network in 23 years.

Big Machine Distillery, along with its Spiked Coolers adult vodka juice pouches and limited-edition Borchetta Bourbon, was the center of attention with displays and activations interwoven throughout the track. Big Machine Label Group artists also made a splash playing on the concert stage throughout the weekend.

Next year’s Big Machine Music City Grand Prix has already been labeled  “A can’t miss event” for fans of music and racing. Make plans to attend the second-annual BMMCGP Aug. 5-7, 2022. Tickets will be available for sale at a later date. Visit musiccitygp.com for more information.
